Wildstep
Privacy Policy
Last updated October 12, 2026.
This policy explains how Wildstep: Step Adventure and its website handle information. Wildstep is made by Outer Sky. Guest play keeps your adventure on your device. Optional accounts and connected features use server storage when those features are enabled in your version.
Apple Health and your adventure
Wildstep asks for read-only access to Apple Health Step Count when you request it in Settings. It uses step readings to advance trails, reveal discoveries, calculate walking statistics, and award game rewards. It does not write data to Apple Health or request other Health categories.
Your device stores game progress, daily credited steps, tracking baselines, dates and time-zone information used to reconcile walking, Field Guide finds, quests, coins, owned items, equipment, and preferences. Guest and account adventures have separate local saves. Health access can be changed in the Health app or iPhone settings. Apple does not tell Wildstep whether read access was denied; an empty reading may mean no available data.
Optional accounts and cloud saves
When accounts are enabled and you sign in, Supabase processes your email address, authentication information, account identifier, and traveler profile. Sign-in credentials are handled by the authentication service; the app keeps session credentials in your device's secure storage.
Account cloud saves store your adventure, including discoveries, coins, equipment, and Health-derived game records such as daily step totals, tracking baselines, and time-zone information. They are not a backup of your full Apple Health library. Guest saves stay on the device unless you choose to bring that adventure into an account. Signing out does not delete an existing cloud save.
Friends and shared walking
Enabled connected features store traveler names and codes, appearance, friend requests, friendships, blocks, gifts, and expedition participation and results. Other travelers can see profile information through code lookup or permitted name search; friends can see published route and collection summaries. Name search and exact lifetime step sharing have separate settings.
Joining a co-op walk or race sends time-based step totals and participation information to calculate shared progress, standings, and rewards. Participants can see the resulting walking progress. Turning off exact lifetime step sharing does not prevent the step contributions needed for a shared expedition you join. Reports you submit include the reported traveler, category, optional details, and your account identifier for review.
Notifications, website, and support
Daily reminders and trail alerts are optional local notifications. Enabled social push alerts are also optional: registering them sends a push token, installation identifier, device platform, and notification preferences to the backend. Expo and Apple's push service process notification delivery information. Notifications may appear on your lock screen according to your device settings.
Cloudflare hosts the website and may process technical request information, including IP addresses, browser information, and security records. If you join Outer Sky updates, the studio stores your email address and signup time for studio news and app launches. Support messages contain the address and information you choose to send. Please omit passwords, sign-in codes, and Health exports.
How information is used and shared
Information supports gameplay, account access, backup, chosen social features, notifications, support, and protection against abuse. Supabase provides account and database services; Cloudflare provides website hosting and signup storage; Expo and Apple provide push delivery. Email and platform services handle communications you initiate. Providers may process information in countries other than yours.
The current app has no advertising SDK or active third-party product analytics or crash-reporting integration. Health readings are used for walking gameplay, not advertising. We may disclose information when legally required or necessary to investigate abuse and protect people or the service.
Storage, removal, and your choices
Local saves remain until removed from your device; deleting the app removes its ordinary local storage, subject to backups you control. Uninstalling does not delete an online account. Where account deletion is available, an accepted request disables the account, removes its account adventure from that phone, and queues permanent server cleanup. Completion may require retries or support. Guest progress and Apple Health data are separate.
Server retention depends on the record's purpose, account status, provider settings, and support or security needs. You can request access, correction, or deletion of information we hold, including studio signup information, at [email protected]. We may need to verify ownership. We will update this page and its date when our practices change. See our Terms of Service.
