How do my steps become an adventure?

Wildstep reads Step Count from Apple Health with your permission. The first sync sets a baseline; later new steps advance your traveler. You don’t need to keep the app open while you walk.

What happens if I miss a day?

Nothing is lost. There are no streak penalties. Your progress and discoveries stay ready for your next walk.

Can I explore more than one region?

Begin in Whisperwood, then unlock Frostpass with earned coins. Each region keeps its own progress and Field Guide. New steps go to your selected unlocked region.

Do I need an account?

No. You can play as a guest, with your progress and discoveries saved on your device.

Help with steps, regions, and your saved progress.

Getting started with steps

Open the app’s Settings and request Step Count access to Apple Health. The first sync sets a baseline, so your adventure begins with new steps. You can review Health access in iPhone settings.

Background updates are best effort. Open Wildstep after a walk to let it catch up. iOS does not tell Wildstep whether read access was denied; an empty reading can mean there is no step data available.

Regions and discoveries

Start in Whisperwood. Earn coins through quests, landmarks, and discoveries to unlock Frostpass. Select your region in Atlas; your progress in each region stays saved. Field Guide landmarks arrive along the route, while other finds happen as you walk.

Your progress

Guest progress is stored on your device. Removing the app or resetting its data can remove that adventure.

Wildstep

Privacy Policy

Last updated October 12, 2026.

This policy explains how Wildstep: Step Adventure and its website handle information. Wildstep is made by Outer Sky. Guest play keeps your adventure on your device. Optional accounts and connected features use server storage when those features are enabled in your version.

Apple Health and your adventure

Wildstep asks for read-only access to Apple Health Step Count when you request it in Settings. It uses step readings to advance trails, reveal discoveries, calculate walking statistics, and award game rewards. It does not write data to Apple Health or request other Health categories.

Your device stores game progress, daily credited steps, tracking baselines, dates and time-zone information used to reconcile walking, Field Guide finds, quests, coins, owned items, equipment, and preferences. Guest and account adventures have separate local saves. Health access can be changed in the Health app or iPhone settings. Apple does not tell Wildstep whether read access was denied; an empty reading may mean no available data.

Optional accounts and cloud saves

When accounts are enabled and you sign in, Supabase processes your email address, authentication information, account identifier, and traveler profile. Sign-in credentials are handled by the authentication service; the app keeps session credentials in your device's secure storage.

Account cloud saves store your adventure, including discoveries, coins, equipment, and Health-derived game records such as daily step totals, tracking baselines, and time-zone information. They are not a backup of your full Apple Health library. Guest saves stay on the device unless you choose to bring that adventure into an account. Signing out does not delete an existing cloud save.

Friends and shared walking

Enabled connected features store traveler names and codes, appearance, friend requests, friendships, blocks, gifts, and expedition participation and results. Other travelers can see profile information through code lookup or permitted name search; friends can see published route and collection summaries. Name search and exact lifetime step sharing have separate settings.

Joining a co-op walk or race sends time-based step totals and participation information to calculate shared progress, standings, and rewards. Participants can see the resulting walking progress. Turning off exact lifetime step sharing does not prevent the step contributions needed for a shared expedition you join. Reports you submit include the reported traveler, category, optional details, and your account identifier for review.

Notifications, website, and support

Daily reminders and trail alerts are optional local notifications. Enabled social push alerts are also optional: registering them sends a push token, installation identifier, device platform, and notification preferences to the backend. Expo and Apple's push service process notification delivery information. Notifications may appear on your lock screen according to your device settings.

Cloudflare hosts the website and may process technical request information, including IP addresses, browser information, and security records. If you join Outer Sky updates, the studio stores your email address and signup time for studio news and app launches. Support messages contain the address and information you choose to send. Please omit passwords, sign-in codes, and Health exports.

How information is used and shared

Information supports gameplay, account access, backup, chosen social features, notifications, support, and protection against abuse. Supabase provides account and database services; Cloudflare provides website hosting and signup storage; Expo and Apple provide push delivery. Email and platform services handle communications you initiate. Providers may process information in countries other than yours.

The current app has no advertising SDK or active third-party product analytics or crash-reporting integration. Health readings are used for walking gameplay, not advertising. We may disclose information when legally required or necessary to investigate abuse and protect people or the service.

Storage, removal, and your choices

Local saves remain until removed from your device; deleting the app removes its ordinary local storage, subject to backups you control. Uninstalling does not delete an online account. Where account deletion is available, an accepted request disables the account, removes its account adventure from that phone, and queues permanent server cleanup. Completion may require retries or support. Guest progress and Apple Health data are separate.

Server retention depends on the record's purpose, account status, provider settings, and support or security needs. You can request access, correction, or deletion of information we hold, including studio signup information, at [email protected]. We may need to verify ownership. We will update this page and its date when our practices change. See our Terms of Service.

Wildstep

Terms of Service

Last updated October 12, 2026.

These terms apply to Wildstep: Step Adventure, its website, and related services provided by Outer Sky. By using them, you agree to these terms. Read the Privacy Policy to understand how information is handled. If you do not agree, stop using the service.

Using Wildstep

Wildstep turns walking steps into a fantasy exploration game. You may use it only if you can legally agree to these terms where you live, with a parent or guardian's permission when required. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive license to use the app on devices you own or control.

The app, artwork, names, and other original content remain the property of their respective owners. This license does not allow you to redistribute or sell that content. Do not access another person's account, harass other travelers, submit abusive profiles or reports, cheat, bypass access controls, or disrupt the service. We may restrict connected access to address abuse or security problems.

Steps and permissions

Walking progress depends on your permission to read Apple Health Step Count and the data your device makes available. Readings, background updates, and notifications may be delayed, incomplete, or unavailable. Device settings, connectivity, operating-system behavior, and changes to Health data can affect game progress.

Wildstep is a recreational walking game, not a medical service or a safety monitor. Its distances and statistics are game estimates. Choose activity appropriate for you, pay attention to your surroundings, and do not rely on the app or its reminders for health or safety decisions.

Coins, rewards, and the Store

Coins, discoveries, equipment, region access, and expedition rewards are virtual game features. They have no cash value and cannot be redeemed for money. Use gifts and transfers only through features the app provides. Coins and items do not add real walking steps.

The current Coin Packs purchase and restore controls do not process real-money purchases or grant coins; App Store products are not yet configured. If purchases become available, the app will show the applicable price and purchase terms before payment. App-store payment and refund rules will apply. We may correct errors and adjust game rules, catalogs, or rewards as the game develops, subject to applicable consumer rights.

Local saves and optional accounts

Guest adventures are saved on your device. Deleting the app, resetting storage, or losing a device can lose that progress. Where enabled, accounts add cloud saves and connected features; those features require a working service and internet connection. Keep your credentials private and review any save-replacement choice carefully.

Cloud backup does not guarantee that every recent change has uploaded or that lost progress can be recovered. Signing out or uninstalling does not delete your online account. Use the available account-deletion controls or contact us to request help. Accepted deletion requests and permanent server cleanup are separate stages.

Availability and responsibility

Apple, app stores, hosting, authentication, and notification providers have their own terms and control their services. Features may vary between versions and may change or become unavailable. We may update or suspend features for maintenance, security, or operating needs.

To the extent permitted by law, Wildstep is provided as available, without a promise of uninterrupted operation, perfect accuracy, or permanent data preservation. Nothing in these terms removes consumer rights or limits responsibility that applicable law does not allow us to exclude.

Changes and contact

We will post updated terms here with a revised date and provide additional notice where required. For questions, support, or account requests, email [email protected]. You can also visit Outer Sky.
